notrAIce - Quick Start Guide

What is notrAIce?

A free tool that replaces your sensitive information with anonymous placeholders BEFORE you send text to AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude. Your private data stays private.

⚙️ Setup (One Time)

Open notrAIce
Download the HTML file and double-click it. Opens in your browser.

Go to Settings Tab
Click "Settings" at the top of the app.

Add Your Mappings
Click "➕ Add Row" and enter:
• Left box: Sensitive info (e.g., "John Smith")
• Right box: Replacement (e.g., "Person A")

Save Profile
Click "💾 Save Profile" when done.

🚀 Usage (Every Time)

Go to Anonymize Tab
Click "Anonymize" at the top.

Paste Your Text
Paste text with sensitive info in the upper box.

Click "🔒 Anonymize for AI"
Safe, anonymous text appears in lower box.

Use with AI
Copy result → Paste to ChatGPT → Get AI response → Use "↩️ Restore" to get original names back.

📝 Complete Example: Business Email

Step 1 - Setup your mappings in Settings:

Switch From (sensitive)	Switch To (anonymous)
Sarah Johnson	Client A
Microsoft	Company B
Phoenix Project	Project X

Step 2 - Your original text:

Dear Sarah Johnson, I wanted to update you on the Phoenix Project. Microsoft has approved the budget, and we're ready to proceed. Best regards

Step 3 - After clicking "Anonymize for AI":

Dear Client A, I wanted to update you on the Project X. Company B has approved the budget, and we're ready to proceed. Best regards

Step 4 - Now this is SAFE to paste into ChatGPT!

Ask ChatGPT: "Make this email more professional"

Step 5 - After getting ChatGPT's response:

Paste ChatGPT's improved version back into notrAIce → Click "↩️ Restore Original Data" → Get final email with real names restored!

            🎯 Key Concept: Think of notrAIce as a two-way translator. It changes your real information into fake information when going TO AI, then changes it back to real information when coming FROM AI.
        

💡 Quick Tips

Match capitalization exactly: "John Smith" ≠ "john smith"
Save your profile: Always click "💾 Save Profile" after changes
Use descriptive placeholders: "Client A" is better than "Person 1"
Test first: Try with sample text before important documents
Create multiple profiles: One for work, one for personal, etc.
Auto-generate: Use "🎲 Generate Anonymous Replacements" to fill placeholders automatically

⚠️ Important: notrAIce only protects what YOU tell it to protect. It won't automatically detect sensitive information. You must manually create the mappings for each piece of data you want to anonymize.

Troubleshooting

Problem	Solution
Nothing gets replaced	Check capitalization matches exactly. Make sure you saved the profile.
Restore doesn't work	Make sure you're using the same profile you used to anonymize.
Settings disappeared	Don't use private/incognito mode. Use the same browser every time.
Won't open on phone	Open with a browser (Chrome/Safari), not a file manager app.
